Kindy Visit

On Monday Room 2 went to kindy. We dug a big hole in the big sandpit. When it got very deep we found water. I slipped in on accident. After that Jonas dropped a heavy pipe in the water. It splashed all over me. I got really angry at him. Every one thought that the big hole full of water was cement. It was a very good day at kindy. By Astin

On Monday Room 2 went to Pinegrove Kindy from 9am til 1pm. We got to play all of the time. The kindy kids went for a trip to the gym and Isle Park. While we were there we played music. We had lunch and morning tea there too. After that I went on an obstacle course. That was a great day out at Kindy. By Kianah

Fun Day At Netball

Scooter Skills

Marty, Wilhem, Sheila and Lynette came to school to teach us some scooter skills.
We learnt how to make sure our helmets are fitted correctly with the two finger rule.
We learnt how to glide and use our brakes.
Good places to scooter are the footpath and the skatepark. We need to look out for sneaky driveways.

Gingerbread Men

Look at our fantastic iced gingerbread men.

Hockey

On Tuesday we went to hockey with Jaron. He taught us how to hold our sticks. He taught us how to do the Hockey Haka. We played two games. One was Creep Up Jack. The other one was Robber Dribble. The robber could steal your ball. We had lots of fun.

Car Stopping Demonstration

On Wednesday we walked down to Starveall Street with the rest of the Junior Syndicate to watch a car stopping demonstration. Mrs Woodward went in the car with Carl.  He drove at 20 kph and slammed on his brakes when we yelled Stop! He stopped pretty quickly. Then he drove at 50 kph. It took longer to stop. When he drove at 60 kph he crashed in to the cardboard lady because it took him longer to stop. We learnt we always need to Stop, Look and Listen before we cross the road.

Brightwater School were very lucky to have a visit from Mike Dawson, the New Zealand Olympic Ambassador. He showed us the gear he wears to compete in the kayak slalom. Drew  got to put the gear on. He wears a skirt to stop the water getting in the kayak. He wears a lifejacket. He wears a t shirt with his number on. Finally he wears a helmet to protect his head. He showed us videos of the food hall in Rio that can feed 5000 people at a time.

Lewie's Bear Skin
